[ For two people who're technically legally bound together, there's a whole hell of a lot that Sam doesn't know about Loki. He'd known that going in, of course, and it hadn't bothered him at all then. It still doesn't bother him now, not really, it's just - he's finding that he'd like to know.

Slowly, of course, he knows better than to start prying too much, but still, that means anything that Loki's willing to share with him is something that he's grateful for.

Especially when it's something like this, and it's that little sigh that changes Sam's plans completely over from talking to keep going. He's always thought there's some times when actions mean a lot more than words, anyway, and if that sounds like an excuse to try to keep getting Loki to flush like that, well. He doesn't really care.

There's little huff at that, soft and amused. ]

Coming from you, I'd say that's compliment. [ Sam tips his head back down, catching the corner of Loki's mouth in a small kiss and planting a trail of them along the line of his jaw. ] I'm not sure it counts as flattery when it's true, but I'm taking it anyway.

[ His other hand pushes Loki's shirt up a little, just enough that he can rest his palm flat against his skin. ]

[Loki was for as gregarious as he seemed, still very secretive when it came to things that mattered to him. Easy enough to share surface-level things, but anything that touched on actual emotion made him nervous.

Not quite as nerve-wracking to share things with Sam, he was finding, but then he was a stubborn thing. And besides that, the way Sam was so understanding about the things he learned was both something Loki craved and feared. Because of course there would come a time that he reached the limits of that warm understanding and ruined everything. It was how things always went, after all.]

It's definitely flattery. [Loki's voice hitched with a soft bit of laughter, even as he was tilting his head slightly to accept the trailing kisses along skin, keenly aware of the hand moving under his shirt.]

I suppose I can. Seeing how you're doing so well at making it worth my while.

[ It's fair enough, honestly. Sam's pretty damn comfortable with his emotions and other people's, but even he hasn't completely admitted how much he appreciates having Loki here. Not being alone had meant a lot, and after working together on Castle's dog busting run, he trusts Loki a not insignificant amount.

He just hasn't figured out the balance between making sure Loki knows he's appreciated and veering too much into emotional territory yet. But he's not in a rush, because he's not planning on going anywhere, and he kind of hopes that Loki isn't, either. Or at least - if he does, if this thing blows up on them for the myriad of reasons that it probably could, that Loki won't be too pissed off at him for not being willing to give up.

Sam gives a little exhale of laughter in return at that, nuzzling into Loki's neck. ]

Yeah, well. You're worth the flattery. [ He slides his hand up higher, hitching up a little more of Loki's shirt as it goes, his thumb rubbing absent circles over Loki's skin. ]

Thank you. [ Sam catches Loki's gaze as he says it, quiet but sincere, before his expression drops back into the playful smile that's more common when they're like this. ] Just tell me to stop if it's too much, all right?
