He's always cranky and punchy–or perhaps I've been stuck with the crankier, punchier one. And you're correct in your assertion, but the key bit of it is 'if you weren't affected'–being the god of mischief means that generally, you're bringer of mischief, and not the one upon whom mischief is visited. I much prefer the former, personally.
